Applications where the battery will be disconnected from the charger by the user routinely, soon after full charge is attained.
Cost sensitive consumer applications.

Cost effective bulk charging.
Simple design characteristics.

Disadvantages of Taper Current Chargers:

Battery can be overcharged if left on the charger to long.
Not inherently short circuit or reverse polarity protected.
Charge current and voltage not regulated.
